Rearcross U-10's played out a humdinger one all draw against Moneygall at the Ballingrawn venue last Saturday morning. Stephen Rochford came close for Rearcross four minutes in with a well worked effort and then Rearcross keeper Colm Lenihan did well to save midway through the half. Moneygall enjoyed the better of the exchanges for the remainder of the half and came close on 18 minutes with a well struck effort from Jack Ryan which was inches wide of the upright. The home side kept on the offensive and Colm Lenihan produced a superb save on the stroke of half time after reflexing to turn a deflected effort outside the post. Rearcross dominated for long spells in the second half but met stiff opposition from a steely Moneygall side, a Patrick Dawson shot wasn't far away minutes in to the half. Rearcross went ahead when the home side's custodian was alert to deny Patrick Dawson with a brave save, however the ball broke to Cathal Kennedy outside the box who rifled to the net with a cracking left footed effort. Rearcross were flying at this stage and were luckless not to stretch their lead with strikes from Patrick Dawson and Stephen Rochford, however the Moneygall shot stopper was in fine form to deny the green & whites with sucessive saves. The woodwork then denied Rearcross when good approach play saw Patrick Dawson's snapshot effort clip the butt of the post. Full credit to a Moneygall side that turned in a dogged display throughout and got their reward two minutes from time when Sean Kenneally was the provider to Jack Ryan who blasted to the back of the net from in front of goal. Rearcross launched a final attack, however Moneygall stood firm to leave a final score of one goal a piece at the full time whistle.
